Response to the APD raid of The Eagle
ATLANTA - The Libertarian Party of Atlanta is deeply disturbed by the actions of the Atlanta Police Department (APD) when they raided popular Atlanta gay bar, The Eagle on September 10th. . In June 2009 according to statistics published by the APD, 331 crimes against persons were committed and there were 3,379 crimes against a property reported. The APD should be using their officers to protect the citizens of Atlanta, not raiding a private club containing a group of consenting adults.
Meet John Monds!
We invite you to join LP Atlanta for our social event on Sunday, the 20th, at The Standard, to meet Libertarian candidate for Governor John Monds. John won over one million votes in his PSC race in 2008. Click on our website calendar for details. Hope to see you soon!
Upcoming Events
LP Atlanta wants to invite you to two upcoming meetings next weekend. Members of LP Atlanta will be attending the Healthcare Townhall Meeting sponsored by the Campaign for Liberty on Saturday, 8/15.
On Sunday the 16th, join us for our monthly social meeting! This is a good time to meet members and other visitors, relax with like-minded people, or ask about libertarian ideas.
Talking the Issues that Matter: Health and Environment
Libertarians love to talk about taxes, privacy, liberty, and property, but what about the other issues at the top of the headlines today?
While LP Atlanta does not have formal policy positions on health care and the environment since these issues are controlled at the state and federal levels, libertarians have some very important perspectives drawn from the best research in economics and public policy. We want to share some resources with you so you'll understand where we're coming from.

Help Spread the Word!
The Libertarian Party of Atlanta has been working hard in 2009 to be a consistent, credible, sustainable champion of liberty.
So far this year we’ve:
Launched a website that’s already getting the attention of some of the state’s most popular bloggers;
Made a stand for liberty at Atlanta City Council meetings to defend police oversight and oppose the recent property tax increase;
Posted an ad in Creative Loafing, Atlanta’s alt weekly for free thinking people like you;
Hosted an awesome social event with 100.5 “Regular Guy” Eric von Haessler; and
When cities compete, citizens win!
Please read my opinion piece in today's AJC on Atlanta budget woes and coming mayoral demands.

Thoughts on Liberty and a Wonderful Video for Your Enjoyment
When you first introduce others to libertarianism or classical liberal thought, they are often confused. It is hard to see why taking control from the government and putting into the hands of individuals is desirable, especially considering many Americans are self-destructive, uninterested or bad decision-makers. As Freedom Fighters, we must arm ourselves with intellectual ammunition. That's what this delightful video will do- give you intellectual ammo to combat often frustrating questions. Share it with your friends and family. Share it with your enemies!
LP-Atlanta gets some love
Today, Georgia political blogger GriftDrift of the aptly named blog Drifting Through the Grift shot a little love our way. You can check out aforementioned post here. He may not be a Libertarian but we can still say thanks.
