LP-Atlanta gets some love
Today, Georgia political blogger GriftDrift of the aptly named blog Drifting Through the Grift shot a little love our way. You can check out aforementioned post here. He may not be a Libertarian but we can still say thanks.
Education - and why it shouldn't cost you so much.
Going to Georgia Tech (where most of the students are in state) made me think – what was I going up against in terms of inter-student competition? Turns out GA was at 41st the year I graduated high school. This made me think again – what did the state spend on education to earn such a prestigious ranking? The answer? 10 BILLION FREAKING DOLLARS (I feel like Dr. Evil when I say that, with my pinky up to my mouth).

Libertarian Party of Atlanta Disappointed With Mayor Franklin and the City Council for Tax Increase
ATLANTA - Earlier today, the Atlanta City council voted 8-7 to approve a property tax increase. This increase will raise the average property owner’s tax bill $240. The Libertarian Party of Atlanta today issued the following statement in response to that action:
Help stop the 42 percent tax hike in Atlanta
ATLANTA - The Libertarian Party of Atlanta needs your help to stop the city council from raising our property tax
rate by 42 percent! Raising taxes during a recession is terrible public policy and will not lead to long term
economic growth. Only by reducing taxes, fees and regulations, can we achieve the goal of real economic growth,
and real prosperity for all citizens.
Nevertheless, radicals on the city council are poised to ram through a massive tax hike this week!
This tax increase will raise the average Atlanta property tax bill by $240 per year.
Statement on Citizen Review Board February 4, 2009
Outraged in response to efforts by the Atlanta Police department to curtail powers of the Atlanta Citizen Review Board (see news article), the Libertarian Party of Atlanta issued the following statement at a city hall meeting discussing the Citizen Review Board:
